When the causes of postpartum depression are examined, the first reason we encounter is that the mother does not have sufficient social support. In addition, previous depression, the baby's medical problems, the baby's temperament, the presence of premenstrual complaints, the mother's personality (obsessive-compulsive personality), and the feeling of loss are among the causes of postpartum depression.
Postpartum Psychosis
Postpartum psychosis; It is a distinct behavioral disorder that includes hallucinations, the inability to perceive things that are happening in rare cases, and delusions (false beliefs that cannot be changed through persuasion and do not actually exist). Overthinking about the baby's health It is the first clue to the mood. The mother constantly thinks about what will happen to her baby. This situation may gradually cause her to hate her baby and may even lead to the desire to kill him. In such cases, the mother must be treated by being hospitalized and separated from the child for the duration of the treatment. It is not a very common situation.
