Genital Whitening

Darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation) develops due to excess pigment settled in the skin layers. Darkening in color may occur in the external genital area over time for various reasons.

Darkening usually occurs due to pregnancy, waxing and epilation. Hormonal disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, smoking, long-term use of birth control pills and some other drugs are other causes of genital darkening. 

Darkening is generally more common in women with dark skin. Darkening may create aesthetic concerns. Lack of self-confidence can cause limitations in sexuality and some social and psychological negativities.  

CO2 laser, Er:YAG laser and Q-switched lasers are most commonly used for the procedure. Before laser application, the energy and density parameters of the laser are adjusted according to the person's skin color. The application area must be shaved. In practice, primarily the genital area  It is cleaned with a disinfectant solution and dried. Afterwards, the hyperpigmented area is enclosed in a rectangle with a marking pen and the area is scanned with a laser. The average treatment time is 5 minutes. During the process, local burning is performed with a laser. Slight redness, swelling, and a slight burning and stinging sensation on the skin are expected. Your doctor will recommend creams for these situations. After the procedure, the darkened skin is peeled off and replaced with new, lighter colored skin.  sessions can be repeated 2-3 times, every 4-6 weeks, when necessary. 

After a few days of lightening with carbon dioxide laser, the epidermal skin turns brown and then peels off on its own. Genital tightening, vaginal tightening and vaginal rejuvenation procedures can also be performed in the same session with laser genital whitening treatment. 

It is normal to have complaints such as burning, itching, stinging and stinging for a few weeks after the laser procedure. The next day, you can take a shower with warm water and wash the genital area with soap. Painkillers or anesthetic ointments can be used when necessary.
